Even if you’re working seventy hour weeks, you don’t need to be all business all the time. If you are, you’ll probably find yourself sacrificing major components in your life that you don’t really want to sacrifice. For example, your kids may grow up without you even having a chance to attend their soccer games or award ceremonies – which isn’t fair to them or you. Instead of being all work all the time, check out these tips to help you balance your home life with your work life for a more balanced you.
Spend Time with Your Kids
Even though you have tons to do, your partner has tons to do, and you find it difficult to make time for anything personal, make time for your children. It is extremely important to be part of a very short, limited childhood, because you will never see it again once your kids are grown. It's a special part of being a parent - use it. You can use this time to spend time with your partner, too. Go to the park together and just enjoy being a family. It's a special gift that not everyone gets to experience.
Sacrifice Certain Goals
You don't have to give up everything you want to do by any means, but prioritizing your goals and what you want to do on a daily and weekly basis is extremely important. If a personal goal of yours is taking away too much time from your family, then it's better to drop it and find something to do with your family instead. You'll thank yourself later.
Wake Up Earlier
Exercise, do your morning work, eat breakfast - and do it all before your partner even gets up. That way, when they do get up, you can devote more time to them. It also allows some flexibility in your schedule so that if your kids get up before your wife is up, you can take care of them so your darling can sleep in a tad. Even though you're not spending time directly with your partner, he or she may now have some time to spend with you later on.
