pe0064727If you’re disorganized or unclear about your purpose, services, or roles at a company, your clients will be, too. Not only will you lose significant amounts of business when you fail to stay organized, you may even alienate the customers you do manage to acquire. To avoid the chaos and loss of clientele, apply the following tips to your business strategies.

Look at the Big Picture

Details, details, details. They control and rule our lives, but should they really? It's important, as a freelancer or a small business, that you take a good hard look at the situation before diving in. This means looking at the details, yes - but also looking at the bigger picture. What do you see? Do you see dangers down the road, risks you didn't see before? When you finally identify the "overall" picture of your business, you can ensure that everything you do on a smaller level contributes to those larger goals. This technique is much more likely to bring you to success.

Make Sure Your Customer Knows What Services You Offer

If you're just starting out, you may not even know exactly what you offer. That's okay; as you test the market, you'll find what works for you. You'll figure out which skills will best serve the market you're targeting, and you can drop everything that doesn't work.  When you finally figure out exactly what your services are, make sure clients and potential clients know exactly what those services are and what they do. It's important you make it as clear as possible so there's no misunderstanding later on.  Don't weaken your company by doing something you're not good at, even if you do enjoy doing it.
